To the Editor:
As one of millions of opponents of the "Equal Rights
Amendment" (because of the unpredictable consequences of any
new invitation to judicial usurpation), it seems that the
AAAS decision not to hold meetings in states that have not
passed the amendment requires me to boycott such meetings.
I have enjoyed AAAS meetings in the past, and I request
whatever reduction in membership dues is warranted by my
exclusion from meetings.
I would be willing to forgo the mailings announcing such
meetings, and I wish to be relieved of my share of the expenses
of holding the meeting.
I apologize for the trouble it may cause, but when I
joined AAAS, I was not aware I was joining a political
organization.
